My first run of any substantial milage in 13 days. About two weeks ago I had a pretty severe calf muscle pull and decided the next day, 'Hey, let's run 4 more miles on it.' So that was a bad idea. Today was nice, I do have work to do in making up lost ground, but I crossed paths with Pirate Cat on my journey. A local celebrity we have in Indy and he brightened my day.
I will saying feeling your calf muscle make a 'popping' sensation was bad enough, but hearing it was pretty scary. The running community in general was great with a lot of helpful suggestions to get me up and running, and healed! Besides the pain the hardest past was just not being able to run at all. I can definitely see a measurable difference in my attitude and life perspective when I'm not able to lace up and hit the trails. With the weather starting to improve, the days getting longer, and staying healthy I hope to really turn in some great mileage. Add to that I hope to turn in some improved marathon times over the next several months!
