I had the pleasure of running in Lexington the past 2 weeks. Being able to travel for business can be both great for my running journeys and awful on the routine. When a project must be completed sometimes valuable runs can be lost. However the second week in Lexington proved to be great getting in the miles. Until....
Flashback to college and I was at a punk show, some slam dancing breaks out and I get trampled. Ten years later I finally have physical therapy performed, and on the second attempt things seem to have corrected themselves. On Wed I felt the tear in my muscle comeback on the back of my lower right thigh. I did the somewhat smart thing and did not run on Thursday or Friday in hopes of some healing. I did venture out today for a 12 miler with mixed results and an 8:38/mile pace. As of now I have Utah in less than 2 weeks and I will be there. I can and I will do this. What I learned today is that I can do this if I use the approach that I took in Toledo on 4/22, to run conservative and feel out the run as I proceed. Tomorrow I will head out and turn in at least 6 miles and be grateful I'm out in the sun, or rain, or even snow... it is Indiana after all and the weather here can be wacky.
